When will we give social care the attention it deserves?

Could the Fabian Society's plans for a national care service be one of the first signs of a political policy as we take a long walk towards the next General Election, asks Heather Jameson - Or will the subject remain toxic to political parties?

As Theresa May found out to her cost some years ago, there are no votes in social care. Her attempt to sort out the social care system turned into an election disaster.

The ‘death tax' gaff arguably led her to a shaky majority that ultimately toppled her premiership – although there may have been plenty more stumbling blocks along the way.
