The Government should look at ‘innovative alternative measures' in response to the cost of living crisis such as collectively securing better prices for utilities, a senior council chief executive has urged.

Kersten England, policy spokesperson for civil and community resilience at senior officers organisation Solace, said the Government should bring in targeted substantial temporary benefit increases ‘as soon as possible' alongside limits on private sector rent increases and evictions to protect the most vulnerable.
