Solo Welsh body

Welsh council workers could be set to join a national public sector body, if a Lib-Lab coalition emerges out of next year's assembly elections.

The country's local authority employees would join a common service with National Assembly civil servants under the plan, to be included in the Liberal Democrats' manifesto. Assembly Lib Dem leader, Mike German, said the move, which would also encompass social service and health employees, would allow council staff to move easily into other sectors.
