New solutions to knife crime

In the run-up to the London Councils Summit next month Cllr Lib Peck looks at the many varied causes and impacts of knife crime in the capital – and assesses the leadership and sharing of best practice required to tackle this growing issue

Serious youth violence is taking over the streets of London. Over the past 12 months there has been a 10% increase in knife crime in the captial.

There have been 87 knife-related deaths in London so far this year, according to the latest police figures and the majority of victims were young people aged 16 to 25.
