The soul of discretion

The new King has expressed strong views about housing, architecture, climate change and cultural change. He will be discreet as monarch but the weekly discussions with the Prime Minister could be interesting, says Michael Burton.

King Charles III stated in his address to the nation almost a fortnight ago that he accepted he would have to give up some of his causes saying ‘it will no longer be possible for me to give so much of my time and energies to the charities and issues for which I care so deeply'.

In doing so he wanted to emphasise his new role as head of a constitutional monarchy and to recognise the limits placed on him as King in contrast to the greater freedom he had to express his views as Prince of Wales
