Southampton strikes widen ahead of 'Armageddon Day'

Health officers are threatening to cause major disruption to Southampton’s port operations, as the six-week long strike spreads.

Health officers are threatening to cause major disruption to Southampton's port operations at a cost of £1m a day, as the six-week long strike spreads to involve more city council employees.

Industrial action by 13 port health officers is set to begin next Monday and would continue until the Friday, during which time ships entering and leaving the port will be delayed and the distribution of cargo containers affected.
