Southern England continues to subsidise the rest of the UK by raising more in taxes than it spends on public services, according to latest analysis from the Office for National Statistics.

Southern England continues to subsidise the rest of the UK by raising more in taxes than it spends on public services, according to latest analysis from the Office for National Statistics.

London, the south-east and east of England all had net fiscal surpluses in the financial year 2016/17, with all other countries and regions of the UK having net fiscal deficits.
