Specialist riot training 'a priority' says review

Independant study into August's riots finds reviewing the number of police with specialist public order training should be a priorty.

Reviewing the number of police with specialist public order training should be an ‘urgent priority', an independent study into August's riots in south London has concluded.

Police ‘information and intelligence systems, in particular, the use they make of social network sites' should also be reviewed – because such information was ‘scrappy and unreliable' as events unfolded – the report by local government expert, Neil Kinghan, suggested.
