An independent report has warned England's shire counties must not get left behind in the race to devolution.

Published today (13 November), the interim report by the Independent Commission on Economic Growth and the Future of Public Services in Non-Metropolitan England said devolving additional powers to county level could help boost the UK economy by £8.7bn a year.
