A new start for Total Budgeting

Notwithstanding the fact that new governments hate carrying over policies from their predecessors, the dropping of the Total Place initiative launched under Labour was a lost opportunity for the coalition government.

Notwithstanding the fact that new governments hate carrying over policies from their predecessors, the dropping of the Total Place initiative launched under Labour was a lost opportunity for the coalition government.

Instead of letting it wither on the vine, then belatedly rebadging it as ‘community budgeting', and launching another raft of pilots, ministers could have renamed it from day one, and let the momentum continue.
