Statisticians pledge to measure national happiness

National well-being will be measured alongside GDP and other indicators of economic growth,the ONS has stated.

National well-being will be measured alongside GDP and other indicators of economic growth after a wide-ranging consultation found popular support, the Office for National Statistics has stated.

Following a request from David Cameron on 25 November 2010, government statisticians conducted a national debate on 'what matters to you?' which generated 34,000 responses online and through 175 local events.
