Strategy aims to bring benefits

The Benefit Fraud Inspectorate (BFI) has announced it is going to target security arrangements for council housing-benefit systems in its latest series of inspections.

BFI director, Chris Bull said: ‘It is important that councils protect taxpayers' money by taking steps to prevent, detect and deter housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud.' Caradon DC, Dumfries and Galloway Council, North Lanarkshire Council, Herefordshire Council, Southampton City Council and Renfrewshire Council will be inspected.
