Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) represent a vital opportunity for the NHS and local government leaders to work together to improve care for local populations.

Yet in recent weeks they have been subject to widespread criticism, including from councils, a handful of which have published their area's STP along with accompanying statements often critical of the process.
