Striking council workers take their message to Parliament

Striking council workers took their ‘Hands off our pensions!' message to Parliament on Tuesday, as part of the nationwide day of action, which unions claimed saw more than one million members stage a 24-hour protest against plans to change the local government pensions scheme (LGPS).

Union members were invited to text in their messages on local action, and send over any photographs from camera phones from pickets lines, to a special website and weblog, set up by Unison, the TGWU, GMB and eight other unions taking part in the strike, to carry news of the strike.
