Stroud phone poll suggests councillor cull

Over three in four Stroud residents feel councillor numbers could be halved.

Stroud District Council could reduce the number of its councillors by almost half following a telephone survey by the authority, showing 76% of residents believed single councillor wards were a good idea.

Leaders at the local authority confirmed they were ‘examining the options' over proposals to cut the number of councillors from 51 to 30.
