Suffolk residents vote against councils merger

Residents in central and south Suffolk failed to find common cause for merging Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils.

Over 64,000 residents in central and south Suffolk failed to find common cause for merging Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils, with the poll producing different results in each council.

Roughly three in five of Babergh's 31,468 residents voted against the plans while the same proportion in Mid Suffolk approved the proposal.
