When Wes Streeting announced the three shifts for the NHS, from treatment to prevention, hospital to community and analogue to digital, it was clear to me that to make this vision a reality, social care must be at the heart of the plan.
Our health and social care secretary has shown a commitment to social care and the opportunity is now to reform social care alongside the NHS 10 year plan. At its best, social care enables people to lead a fulfilling life, in a place they call home, whatever challenge they face. Prevention, community and social justice drive our approach. It's these values which can push forward the three big shifts.
