Surrey County Council leader Dr Andrew Povey has announced his intention to stand down from the role, days after the resignation of deputy leader David Hodge.

Surrey County Council leader Dr Andrew Povey has announced his intention to stand down from the role, days after the resignation of deputy leader David Hodge.

Dr Povey, who will serve as leader until the next full council meeting on 11 October said his decision, which comes at a 'crossroads in his life',  would allow him to develop a new business interest supplying care to people in their own homes.
