Survey finds 'locals know best' about improving communities

The poll was published by the BLF as it announced 50 communities would each be given £1m to improve their areas.

A poll commissioned by the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) suggests 74% of people think local residents or voluntary groups know best when it comes to improving their communities.

According to the YouGov poll, just 10% of people believe their local authority knows best, and just 3% trust their MP to make key decisions.
