The average cost of a single room in a care home has risen by 9% over the last 12 months, a survey has suggested.

The poll by the Prestige Nursing and Care agency said the average cost for a single room in England has risen from £25,953 in 2011 to £27,404 in 2013. And three regions – London, South West and East of England – all recorded average prices of more than £30,000.
