Ministers were this week urged to take swift action to stop vulnerable people being abused in care homes, following the publication of a damning Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.

A study by the watchdog, published on 25 June, concluded that half of services and care homes for people with learning disabilities did not meet required standards.
