Survey urges swift action to save ailing high streets

NLGN think tank and British Property Federation in joint call for councils and local businesses to help fill empty shops in town centres.

The New Local Government Network (NLGN) and British Property Federation have called for councils and local businesses to work together to help fill empty shops in town centres.

Responding to a new survey by the two organisations, which revealed that, on average, 14% of shops remain vacant, the NLGN's head of research, Paula Lucci, said councils and businesses needed to work together to see more shops open on the UK's high streets.
