Swinney confirms £10.3bn settlement

The Scottish deputy first minister, John Swinney, has confirmed the details of the overall funding settlement for councils in 2016/17.

The Scottish deputy first minister, John Swinney, yesterday confirmed the details of the overall funding settlement for councils in 2016/17, which he said was worth a total of £10.3bn.

As part of the settlement, the Scottish Government's controversial council tax freeze will continue for the ninth year running despite pleas from some quarters for it to end.
