'Systemic and persistent' failures in council's children's services

Worcestershire CC has said it has invested an extra £5.1m into improving children’s social care this year after a damning report from a government commissioner.

Worcestershire CC has said it has invested an extra £5.1m into improving children's social care this year after a damning report from a government commissioner.

In a statutory direction, education secretary Justine Greening said the council was ‘failing to perform to an adequate standard' and ordered Worcestershire to draw up an ‘options analysis of an alternative delivery model' by the end of this year.
