We can't tackle climate change alone

This summer, councillors in Craven voted unanimously to declare a climate emergency – joining a couple of hundred other local authorities across the country.

This summer, councillors in Craven voted unanimously to declare a climate emergency – joining a couple of hundred other local authorities across the country.

There's no doubt the scale of the problem is enormous. In Craven we are trying to do our bit. We've pledged to work towards making our district carbon neutral by 2030. We're phasing out single use plastic across council operations, replacing vehicles in our fleet with low emissions vehicles and are planning to install electric vehicle charging points in council car parks. We have been involved in the construction of the Skipton Flood Alleviation Scheme, because adaptation to climate change, as well as tackling its root causes is important.
