Hackney LBC’s Integrated Gangs Unit is making inroads to offer support and advice to young people and their parents in a bid to change behaviour and avoid the dangers of being groomed for gang culture, writes Cllr Sophie Linden
Back in 2010 the two tragic murders of Agnes Sina-Inakoju, 16, and Godwin Lawson, 17, were a catalyst for change in the borough.
We recognised that the while vast majority of Hackney residents, young and old, were law-abiding and hard-working, the actions of a very small minority were having a significant impact.
