This will be my last column for The MJ as I reach the end of my term as chairman of the Local Government Association.

I want to thank all my colleagues, past and present, for their hard work and support over the last four years championing local government. Councils have seen a significant shift in political control following the local elections, but one issue remains high on the agenda: housing.
