Taking action on homelessness

Bob Blackman MP explains why he is launching a Private Members' Bill on new support for councils on tackling and preventing homelessness

It came as quite a surprise to be drawn in the Private Members' Bill ballot, given that many MPs can and have spent years, even decades in the House without ever being delivered of such a great opportunity.

I was even more surprised to be drawn in the no.2 slot, which in theory bestows an added layer of auspicious good fortune, by virtue of allowing for a guaranteed Second Reading and thus a genuine shot at putting through some truly meaningful legislation.
