A tale of two countries

Michael Burton looks at the benefits of France's public spending levels.

A holiday abroad is always an opportunity to compare and contrast public services with those in the UK.

After a break in Brittany, France, during the past fortnight I learned that the French economy is as dire as ours, that they lavish spending on roads infrastructure, have about ten times as many public toilets per head of population than us, and that nothing will stop the French from their long lunch.
