Informal talks are ongoing to resurrect local government's failing insurance mutual after it was hit by further blows.

Local Government Mutual (LGM) was created to provide additional insurance options to councils but Covid changed the risk appetite among the panel of providers that would have provided cover for more expensive claims, leading the two firms that had been separately lined up to both pull out.
