A leading think-tank has floated the idea of dismantling the DCLG to promote further radical reform of the civil service.

In a debate-provoking ‘blog', published ahead of the Cabinet Office's announcement on civil service reform this week, the New Local Government Network's head of research, Adrian Harvey, suggested many of the DCLG's major responsibilities should be devolved to local authorities and its policy functions shared among other Whitehall departments.
