Think tank calls for £500m city centre fund

A think tank has reported public investment should be reallocated to help medium sized cities make out-of-date city centres attractive.

Public investment should be reallocated to help medium sized cities make out-of-date city centres more attractive to businesses, a think tank has today reported.

According to the study Hidden Potential released by Centre for Cities, a minimum £500m cashpot could be funded from existing schemes - such as the Regional Growth Fund, Growing Places fund, European funding and local authority assets – to reconfigure weak city centres and help boost job creation.
