Coalition plans to extend the council tax freeze have been criticised by public finance experts following last week's Spending Review.

Paul Johnson, director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies think-tank, said proposals to extend cash incentives for council tax freeze into a sixth year ‘has the potential for considerable long-term effects'.
