Croydon LBC has hit back at allegations it is among the worst local authorities in the country at collecting council tax.

DCLG data last week revealed Croydon failed to collect £40m worth of council tax last year – one of the highest sums in the UK. But the south London borough said while the figures looked high, it actually collected 96% of all taxes owed to it last year.
