'Taxpayers benefit' from home-based care

New research says that taxpayers could save more than ten thousand pounds per patient through an emphasis on home based social care.

Taxpayers could save more than ten thousand pounds per patient through an increased emphasis on home-based social care for the elderly and vulnerable, according to new research.

Carried out on behalf of the British Red Cross, the independent analysis from the New Economics Foundation found home-based care drastically improved people's lives and could also save the NHS thousands of pounds per patient in longer-term health costs.
