Taxpayers to fund council chief's libel case

Carmarthenshire council is paying the legal expenses of its chief executive,in a libel case sparked by the arrest of a resident.

Carmarthenshire council is paying the legal expenses of its chief executive, Mark James, in a libel case sparked by the arrest of a resident who filmed a town hall planning meeting.

In the aftermath of the incident last June, - which drew national media attention to the right of people to record public meetings - Mr James posted a message on the 'madaxeman' blog, which had been critical of the council's stance towards Mrs Jacqui Thompson.
