The lost years

The UK is reeling from nearly five years of lost economic growth. Ann McGauran asks what action local and central Government should take to support the most vulnerable.

The UK is on course to complete a less than winning five-year streak of lost economic growth since 2019, with a widening gap between prosperous and less well-off areas.

In its latest quarterly outlook, the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) has also put the risk of the Government fighting a General Election during a recession at 60%.
