Two-thirds of patients discharged to care homes without tests

As many as two-thirds of elderly patients discharged from hospital into care homes at the height of the pandemic were not tested for coronavirus, according to freedom of information requests.

As many as two thirds of elderly patients discharged from hospital into care homes at the height of the pandemic were not tested for coronavirus, according to freedom of information requests.

Some 16,000 elderly people admitted to care homes were untested during mid-March to mid-April when hospitals were frantically emptying beds in readiness for an influx of coronavirus patients. After April 15 tests became mandatory.
