Tories and Lib Dems are the big losers from the elections so far

The local election results are so far proving to be bad news for the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, with major gains for Labour and an increase in seats for UKIP.

The local election results are so far proving to be bad news for the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, with major gains for Labour and an increase in seats for UKIP. 

Of those who have declared so far, Labour has 27 councils, Conservatives 16, Lib Dems 2 and 16 are no overall control. UKIP have gained 86 seats.
