Two Cabinet Office ministers have promised to cut back 'taxpayer-funded' public sector union officials.

Speaking at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester, DCLG secretary Eric Pickles attacked council 'taxpayer-funded full-time trade union officials' which he said cost £250m a year. He added: 'You won't find Labour criticising them as their leader's own Labour council keeps bankrolling union officials on the rates.'
