Tory takeover put back

The expected Tory takeover of the ~Association of London Government~ (ALG) has been put on hold, after this week's annual general meeting was postponed.

Conservative group leader, ~Cllr Merrick Cockell~ the leader of Kensington & Chelsea RLBC, was expected to have been elected as chair of the ALG at the meeting, which was due to take place on Tuesday. The meeting has now been postponed until 3 July, when the new chair will be elected, together with chairs of the association's panels and steering groups. An ALG spokesman said the meeting had been postponed because association rules stipulated the annual general meeting must be held two months after local elections.
