Talk of reinstating the post of chief executive at Tower Hamlets LBC has returned to the agenda ahead of a crunch week for the council.

The intervention-threatened council has not had a chief executive since July 2012, but mayor Lutfur Rahman claimed an ‘unholy Tory-Labour alliance blocked my every attempt to fill the post'.
