Lutfur Rahman, the under fire mayor of Tower Hamlets has refuted a series of allegations about his leadership broadcast by BBC 1's Panorama programme last night.

Among the series of claims made against Mayor Rahman's leadership of the East London borough, the documentary makers claimed the Bangladeshi mayor had more than doubled the amount of funding council officers had recommended should be allocated to Bengali-run charities.
