From new town to big city

Milton Keynes may be a new town, but its new chief executive, Carole Mills, tells Heather Jameson how it has grown up and has plenty to shout about

It is official: Milton Keynes has grown up, or so its new chief executive Carole Mills has declared. And it looks like she could be right.

At 47 years old – the city, not Ms Mills – it has developed its own personality, has grown to a considerable size, and has even been pitched as a land of opportunity in a recent Eastenders storyline. Praise indeed for the new town on the block.
