A town hall is axing some if its top bosses to save £1m in wages.

A town hall is axing some if its top bosses to save £1m in wages.

The deputy chief executive will be among the top brass leaving in a cull of senior posts at Salford City Council. Managers at the highest levels of the town hall will be offered retirement or voluntary redundancy in the coming months. If not enough take up the offer, there could be compulsory job losses. It comes as Salford tries to slash £20m from next year's budget.
