Town hall morale 'hit by long hours'

Exclusive survey shows more than three-quarters of local government employees feel morale in their department is average or poor.

More than three-quarters of local government employees claim morale in their department is average or poor, according to independent research seen exclusively by The MJ.

A quarter of local government workers have worked longer hours since the recession, according to the poll of 1001 public sector workers – including 273 from councils – conducted by recruitment firm Badenoch and Clark.
