New Towns: A checklist for development and delivery

With the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and accompanying changes to policy and decision-marking, pressure on local authorities to deliver against ambitious housing targets is growing. 

New towns also remain on the agenda, with a taskforce appointed and a call for sites underway. The challenges of delivering communities of this size are complex, whether as a new settlement or urban extension. However, they do offer a way of building at scale on a discrete site.
