On track for regeneration

Back in 1987, the then prime minister Margaret Thatcher, was famously photographed standing on the derelict site of a former engineering works on Teeside to display her new-found commitment to urban regeneration.

Fast forward a quarter century and the site, Thornaby, is now the car park of one of the many new office blocks that have sprung up in the last decades.
