Turn down improvement and face 'other measures'

Alternative measures should be introduced in cases where poorly-performing councils refuse to engage with sector-led improvement, the leader of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) independent group has said.

Cllr Marianne Overton told The MJ it was rare for councils to opt out, but a system was needed to deal with those that refused.
