Politics is littered with soundbites that began as election slogans, gave their name to Government policies, then became ridiculed and were consigned to the dustbin of history.
Back in the 1960s it was Prime Minister Harold Wilson's ‘the white heat of technology,' soon overtaken by the reality of Britain's ageing industrial base. More recently was Theresa May's ill-fated ‘just about managing' and ‘the left-behind,' swiftly scrapped by her successor.
